1.
Find the Heel Height
The number has been placed on
the weight bearing portion of the heel.
Weight bearing is brought back considerably by cleaning the heel
triangles (seat of corn).
2. Trim the Frog
We make sure the frog does
not protrude above the heels.
3. Find the live sole plane
The number 3 has been placed on the most visible portion of the live sole.
Notice the waxy, texture? It
isn't mealy or flakey.
4. Clean the bars
We found the white line on the bars. This
gives us our bar height.
5. Round the edges of the
whole hoof and deal with any flaring
We haven't rounded the heel on the trimmed side yet.
It is still a sharp edge. Notice
the untrimmed side is naturally rounded.
